Drifting through the city without name or purpose, Same streets, same corners, same empty routines repeated without thought. He wandered past silent alleys, stepping in the same puddles that reflected the flickering neon signs that buzzed and hummed above him, with jingles that repeated endlessly over and over. The steps carried him, but every day blurred into the next.
Until one signal cut through. Bright eyes, clear voice, and a smile that cut through the chaos.
He froze. Blinked. The city fell silent. For a moment, nothing moved but the widening of his eyes and the sharp intake of breath. Something called to him.
Screens were dragged from dumpsters, wires stripped from dead signs, long abandoned, pieces of hardware hauled through the alleys. And in the midst of it, he discovered a long forgotten space, dark and empty, where he could gather it all.
